IEPA LOANS 17-5868 AND 17-6136 UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Construction of the 2021 Central Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvements, Divisions A, B, C, E, & F and the 2022 Central Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvements, Divisions A, B, & C at the Danville Sanitary District Wastewater Treatment Facility located at 16161 Grape Creek Road were financed by the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (SRF).  The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives portions of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  These projects includes improvements to the digester complex, installation of an energy cogeneration engine, electrical upgrades, backup power generator, replacement of primary clarifier equipment, aeration blowers and process air upgraded for Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR), digester and gas handling safety improvements, ferrous chloride system replacement, septage receiving station, and east plant stormwater overflow facility rehabilitation.  Once complete it will maintain the quality of water being discharged into the Vermilion River.  Benefits to for area residents and businesses in the City of Danville include water treatment during power outages, conversion of methane gas to electricity, and proactive asset management.  SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources:  water.​
