IEPA LOANS 17-6136 AND 17-7336 UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Construction of the 2022 Central Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvements, Divisions A, B, & C and the 2025 Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvements at the Danville Sanitary District Wastewater Treatment Facility located at 16161 Grape Creek Road were financed by the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (SRF).  The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives portions of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  The 2022 project includes the following improvements: aeration blowers and process air upgraded for Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR), digester and gas handling safety improvements, ferrous chloride system replacement, septage receiving station, and east plant stormwater overflow facility rehabilitation. The 2025 project includes improvements to the West Plant including replacement of effluent and backwash pumps, and electrical gear replacement.  Once complete it will maintain the quality of water being discharged into the Vermilion River.  Benefits for area residents and businesses in the City of Danville include wastewater treatment during power outages and proactive asset management.  SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources:  water.
